Scott Cobb is a multidisciplinary artist, whose painting, drawing, photography, filmmaking and printmaking delves into spaces where personal identity, systemic power, and human vulnerability uneasily commingle. Through his art Cobb confronts social issues, relationships, and deeply personal narratives, offering viewers a sometimes epic keyhole through which to glimpse isolated moments of individual despair and collective struggles. His work frequently critiques systemic injustice and weaves a narrative that transcends the individual, addressing broader issues of societal abandonment, addiction, and pervasive invisibility of those who labor and other issues along the margins of society.
Cobb won a Best Short Screenplay Award at the Hill Country Film Festival for Overwood, a story about three sisters. TEDxUTAustin selected two of his artworks for their conference in March 2025. In December 2024, Cobb’s work was included in The Closing Shift art show at The University of Texas at Austin. Cobb’s drawing Idiot Hole was selected for the Spring Cleaning Art Show on April 18, 2024 at The University of Texas at Austin. The UT Senate of College Councils selected two of Cobb’s artworks for their Art & Community Showcase in February 2024.
Cobb organized an art show partially funded by the City of Austin Cultural Arts Funding Program called “Justice For All?: Artists Against the Death Penalty” and is currently organizing an art show for April 18-19, 2025 entitled “The Last Art Show Before Fascism”. In December 2025, he will complete coursework for a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from UT-Austin.
